• Petaluma City Schools offers music to all TK through 6th grade students. Our youngest learners work on fun songs, movements, and simple instruments. As they move through the grades, students learn to read simple music notes, experience more complex rhythms and songs and even design their own choreography! In 4th grade, all students learn to play the recorder. In 5th & 6th grades, students choose to join chorus or band for the whole year. Band students play the clarinet, flute, trombone, or trumpet with some percussion for those interested.  

  • Performing Arts at Valley Vista goes from the traditional class plays to poetry recitations, from sharing in the younger grades to formal reports with older students.  We encourage our students to express themselves publically in a variety of ways.  When students become competent communicators, they gain confidence, broader vocabulary and pride in their learning and sharing.
