• McKinley has a variety of special school-wide, community-building events that happen each year.

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHTS (several times a year)

Family Movie Nights bring together McKinley families for dinner, crafts, and a movie.

    SALSA FESTIVAL (Fall)

During the Salsa Festival, each class submits one or more homemade salsas in our big salsa competition. There are also special categories for individuals and families. Attendees pay for a tasting which allows them voting tickets. The salsa with the most votes wins the Golden Jalapeno award and bragging rights. All money raised from this event supports the school garden.

    RED RIBBON WEEK (Fall)

McKinley participates in Red Ribbon Week each Fall. Volunteers decorate the school.

    WINTER FESTIVAL (December)

The Winter Festival is a community event that offers a variety of activities for families including crafts, food, and community service opportunities. The 2017 event included a classroom baking contest. The 2018 event featured cultural food donated and prepared by McKinley families.

    PERFORMING ARTS (Spring)

Interested students audition for the school play in the winter, rehearse several times per week throughout the spring, and put on several performances open to the public toward the end of the spring.

    TALENT SHOW (Spring)

Students audition for a school-wide talent show and display their talents at two performances.
