RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF PETALUMA CITY ELEMENTARY AND PETALUMA JOINT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICTS (“PETALUMA CITY SCHOOLS”), COMMENDING SHAMIYAH TALFORD FOR HER SERVICE AS A STUDENT BOARD MEMBER FOR PETALUMA CITY SCHOOLS

WHEREAS, Shamiyah Talford successfully completed her term as Student Representative to the Board of Education and has performed her duties in an exemplary manner; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Shamiyah is an articulate, intelligent, San Antonio High School student and her participation and engagement have been well-organized, comprehensive, and delivered with clarity and sincerity; and, 

 

WHEREAS, the Petaluma City School District Board of Education has welcomed her interest, concerns, and advice in many topics that come before the Board; and, 

 

WHEREAS, Shamiyah has been a loyal member of Petaluma City Schools, demonstrated in her dedication and commitment to her studies. When Shamiyah is not in school she keeps busy helping her mom with her catering business. She also enjoys singing, playing video games, cooking and reading and she has a love for drawing and painting.

 

After high school, Shamiyah plans to attend SRJC to study Psychology. After her studies at the JC, she would then like to train to become a Certified Nursing Assistant with the hope of ultimately attending a Historically Black College in the South; now

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Governing Board of Petaluma City Schools commends Shamiyah Talford for her dedicated service, expresses its appreciation for her warm friendship, and extends its best wishes as she continues to pursue her life goals.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of the resolution be made an integral part of the minutes of the May 28, 2024 meeting of the Petaluma City Schools Board of Education. Passed and Adopted by the Governing Board of the Petaluma City Schools on May 28, 2024. 

The foregoing resolution was introduced by Board Member Paun who moved its adoption, seconded by Member Cloud and adopted by the following vote:
