RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF PETALUMA CITY ELEMENTARY AND PETALUMA JOINT UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICTS (“PETALUMA CITY SCHOOLS”), RESOLUTION TO ENSURE NEW BELL SCHEDULE FOR 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR.

WHEREAS, the Board of Education of Petaluma City Schools is committed to ensuring that every high school graduate is prepared for college, career and life, and; 

WHEREAS, without equal opportunity to obtain a premium education, students will less likely be able to participate equally in career and higher education opportunities; and

WHEREAS, when all students have equitable access to a-g courses, Career Technical Education (CTE), meaningful electives enriches the educational experiences of all students, and;

WHEREAS, when students have a bell schedule that allows all students to equally obtain the necessary courses that prepares them for college, career and life, especially those who are multilingual learners, students with disabilities or dually identified, further ensures the district is closing the achievement, skills and opportunity gaps among all students.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Petaluma City Schools adopt a new bell schedule that ensures all students have equitable and open access to high quality, rigorous courses by 2025-2026 school year. The Board of Education directs Petaluma City Schools administration to finalize this new bell schedule by Oct 1st, 2024, to be implemented no later than the 2025-26 school year.  

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this Resolution be made integral part of the minutes of May 14, 2024 meeting of the Petaluma City Schools Board of Education.

The foregoing resolution was introduced by Board Member Cloud who moved its adoption, seconded by Member Paun and adopted by the following vote:
