Solar Suitcases - Ecuador, Spring 2018

Out of the 2,000 California youth who built clean energy kits as part of Pacific Gas and Electric Company’s (PG&E) Solar Suitcase program, a student from Carpe Diem and a student from Sonoma Mountain were selected to deliver them to energy-scarce communities in rural Ecuador this spring.

Noah Pacheco from Sonoma Mountain High School and Lindsey Boyd from Carpe Diem High School went on a 12-day service learning trip to Ecuador where they delivered We Share Solar® Suitcases to a remote village in the in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. The students shared sustainable energy tips and advanced their own understanding of the technology by teaching their peers in Ecuador how to build, install and maintain the kits.
